IKEA and Canine Anatomy

Look at this picture carefully. This is the cover of the most recent IKEA catalogue.

Notice anything about the dog in the picture?

Apparently IKEA has pulled all of the catalogues from their stores. I guess it's now a collector's item.

I guess with everything else going on in this picture whomever approved this wasn't exactly drawn to the dog's anatomy.

Andre Agassi

Last night I watched the Pavel/Agassi match at the US Open.

While I usually never watch tennis I have to say that this match was quite exhilirating. Here's Agassi, arguably pro tennis's biggest star for many many years, in his last tournament ever.

The entire crowd was behind this guy to the point where the announcer had to constantly remind the fans to please be quiet. Add to that the heckles that came on almost every Pavel serve. You could feel the anticipation and support for this man throughout the game.

He won.

Now onto the next round.

40 More Days...

October 4th is the day that the Toronto Maple Leafs will officially begin this hockey season.

With all of the roster moves made over the past season by GM JFJ, it looks like we will at least make the playoffs this year. Last year was an embarrassment that cannot be repeated anytime soon.

Bring on the Sens. It's time to remind them what it's like to choke again.

Go Leafs Go

Speedsolving

Ever seen someone solve a rubiks cube really fast?

Check this out.

Too bad I can do this with my left foot with my eyes closed.

This guy is nothing!

Private Health Care Is NOT Evil

The election of this guy as head of the CMA is a good thing for the reason that it will at least expand the debate on the role of the private sector in health care delivery in this country.

He's an operator of a private clinic, yet he rejects the US-Style of private care.

The world is not ending! Pigs are not flying!

JT vs TH

Bang! Boom! Bap!

Scrap in pop music land.

Who will come out on top? The former boy-band member or the American-Idol winner?

The 50 Cent/Ja Rule quarrel has nothing on JT and Taylor Hicks!

Perhaps these two will start packing heat and wearing bulletproof vests.

Creative Mugging

This is certainly an interesting way to distract someone before you pick their pocket.

I saw this happen once.

At the zoo.

With monkeys.

Not humans.

2 years to the day...

Today marks two years without Phish.

The day the music stopped was August 15th, 2004 in Coventry, VT. Surrounded by over a hundred thousand phamily members Trey, Mike, Page, and Fishman called it quits.

A sad, sad day for thousands of phans around the world.

Check out etree to get some sweet shows. Dave talks about his thoughts on etree over here today.

Actually, get the August 14 and 15, 2004 Phish shows off of etree.org. Not the best playing that Phish has ever had, but a must-have show.

And now I go throw on my birks, dreadlock my hair, and listen to my tapes.

Simpsons = China's Worst Enemy

If there is anything that can prompt a society to rise up and overthrow the chains of it's oppresive government, it is the censorship of the Simpsons.

Mark my words, this will usher in a second Tiananmen Square showdown.

Apologies to my readers in China. You will probably not be able to view this much longer due to the radical nature of my posts.

Poor White Trash Britney...

Wow.

Either her husband's habits have rubbed off on her or her true trashy self is finally shining through.

This needs to get passed around to everyone you know.

Hilarious

Jay Z is the new Bono

Step aside Bono, your place in bed beside Kofi Annan has been replaced by the Hova.

Jay Z is the latest celebrity to be using their fame to push their views on global problems. Where Bono had poverty, Jay Z has clean water.

I guess he's not satisfied with the quality of the water that is going into his Cristal...

Didn't this guy retire?

Celebrating A Great Man

Today is the 11th Anniversary of the passing of Jerry Garcia.

While I was not a fan of the Grateful Dead in 1995, I can say that I now appreciate just what kind of effect this man has had on music and on popular culture.

No surprise to most people who know me, but I am a huge fan of Garcia and the Dead. I love this band and the music that emenanates from these guys getting together and having some fun.

My parents didn't exactly have old Grateful Dead records and tapes hanging around the house for me to stumble upon in my youth. I found them through another avenue; Phish.Being first exposed to Phish and all of the musical possiblities that the band explored really opened up my mind to sampling new music. And from there I decided to try out Jerry and the Boys, as well as many other great musical acts. Today this music is what fills the bullk of my CD and mp3 (and SHN!) collection

It was a fitting tribute that the Grateful Dead retired that name officially with the passing of Jerry. Today they are known simply as the Dead.

Nugs.net is streaming nothing but Jerry today.

Sirius Radio has been saluting Jerry since August 1st on Channel 17 - Jam On

RIP Jerry. You have touched us all.

Now go throw on a Dead shirt and play some Franklin's Tower on your stereo.

Wikiality

In his ongoing quest to supplement the English language, Stephen Colbert has come up with the new word "Wikiality".

The definition is something like "truth by consensus."

Take a look at the subsequent consequences of it here.

This is one of the articles that Colbert urged his viewers to change. It has since been locked.

Apparently almost all of the Wikipedia entries that had to do with Colbert were locked until quite recently because of this.

Stephen Colbert is a great man.

Drugs and Threesomes

My buddy Karl pointed out to me that the Dangerous Duo of Doping needs to welcome a third member.

Welcome Justin Gatlin.

Together they have formed a supergroup that goes by the name of the The Terrible Trio of Trumped-Up Testosterone Testing.

Watch for them at your local sporting event...

Happy Birthday Dave

Just want to acknowledge the accomplishment that one Dave Prisco achieved yesterday.

He made it through another year.

Congratulations. Your birthday cheque is in the mail.

New tradition. Buy me a beer on your birthday.

Yippie Kai Yay

John Mclane is back.

It looks like Bruce Willis is signing on for yet another Die Hard movie.

This is bad news... for bad guys! Ohhhhhhh!!!

Even though this movie will not be released until June of next year, I have already given it four stars and two thumbs up.

Yippee Kai Yay, Mutherf$#@!@#
